John Bonelli, Community Engagement and Recruitment Manager, Project Achieve, recently hosted the University of Connecticut’s HIV/AIDS Advocacy Awareness group for their “Alternative Break Trip,” an annual service trip students can participate in during their winter break.

During their visit, Michael Bianco, the Clinical Services Supervisor of Infectious Disease Prevention, gave a presentation to the students, which included a tour of the lab. He walked them through an HIV vaccine study visit, including the informed consent process and patient bill rights.

The students also participated in community outreach and awareness activities with John outside CUNY Hunter College, where they distributed condom packets, HIV prevention material, and HIV vaccine study material.
